Waste not want not…
You know that litter is unsightly and that we should put everything in the right bin.
You may know that Bexley has vowed to reduce the amount of waste sent from households to the landfill by 90%, and that 76% of the material thrown away in Franklin County has the potential to be recycled or composted.
You may not know that there is no such place as away. Everything we throw “away” lands somewhere.
It is important that we appropriately discard the waste we have, and it is even important that we reduce our waste. The less we have to throw out, the less we’ll have to worry about where we’re throwing!
Green Bexley is happy to help clean up our Fourth of July activities today, but ask that you help us—at home and in the community—going forward.
Please see the information below, and learn more about reducing your waste (and other ways to be sustainable) at greenbexley.org/gogreen.
Food Waste Recycling (Composting)
Bexley is the first city in central Ohio to implement city-wide food waste recycling, and we’re proud of it! It’s as easy as signing up and placing your bucket outside every Monday.
Recycling
The City contracts with Rumpke as our recycling hauler. Together, we work to ensure residents are able to recycle efficiently. Recycling only works when we all do it correctly, and proper recycling helps us reach our goals!
Trash
While we am to reduce, reuse, and recycle, sometimes, we landfill is the only option. Following Rumpke’s disposal guidelines are important for the safety their employees; please review them below.
Yard Waste
Yard waste collection an alternative disposal options when there are too many leaves to leave in the yard, too many pinecones to craft with, or too many sticks to repurpose. See below for yard waste tips and tricks!
